Get Involved with The Mainlander

Postering: one of the many activities you can participate in.

The Mainlander is currently looking for more writers and editors to cover diverse political issues in Vancouver.

The Mainlander wants to diversify and expand our writing collective. In particular we want to encourage women, people of colour, indigenous people, people with disabilities, people who identify as LGBTQQIP2S and/or low-income people to submit articles and participate in the collective. We realize that this involves working towards making The Mainlander a safe, accessible, supportive and inclusive space for everyone to participate and we welcome all feedback relating to this aim.

We welcome articles from new writers and we are happy to help inexperienced writers to develop their writing skills. However, regardless of your level of experience we always expect serious pitches and commitment to the writing and or editing. We are also happy to announce that we can offer $75 stipends per articles. Larger stipends can be negotiated based on the scope of research required. We welcome your ideas for potential articles in the form of a short pitch, or you can join our mailing list for writers, where we pitch stories to you.

We are also hoping to make it more clear how you can get involved and participate in The Mainlander, and the many different ways you can participate even if you are not interested in writing. We always need more hands to help with organizing public talks, hosting the weekly radio show, administrative work, developing the website, fundraising and more.

Send email to editor@themainlander.com if you are interested in signing up for our mailing list and to receive more information about how you can get involved. Please indicate what your area of interest is – whether it be writing, editing, administration and beyond.
